An important component of the restoration process is the availability of a healing church community that can serve a recovering leader and their family. CLIMB Intercultural Society will identify church communities that can be part of the restorative network. The following questions will reveal if a church has the necessary traits to be an effective restorative community:

  • Can the candidate be honest about their faults and failures?

  • Are church leaders able to distinguish between judging the sin and judging the person? Are they able to confront sin and at the same time offer grace and forgiveness?

  • Does the church have a system of accountability for its leaders? Can the candidate be included in this process?

  • Are church leaders able to validate the skills, gifts and positive qualities of the candidate?

  • Is the church a safe community for the family and others close to the candidate?

  • Is there a pathway to leadership in the church?
